Today was the last day of school for Leah. (It was a half-day, actually.) Leah is definitely excited, but she has been saying for the past week that she will miss her teacher. She absolutely adores her teacher, Mrs. Jarrard.

Today they made a memory book of 1st grade and they got to spend the "money" they earned in class (based upon good behavior) at the end-of-the-school-year blow-out sale at the class "store." Leah came home with a container of yellow Play-doh, a necklace, a ring, two pencil toppers, an eraser and a temporary tattoo. The PTO gave each child a free bag of popcorn too.
Aaron did pretty well for himself too. On most mornings we go to the library for an hour or so and the librarian, Ms. Bobbi, has taken a liking to Aaron. She arranged for Aaron and me to each get a bag of popcorn too. (Yes!)

Aaron is also know in the front office. (We have to sign in and get a visitor's badge every time Aaron and I use the library.) Ms. Sue, a behavioral specialist, gave Aaron a Subway t-shirt today. All the students enrolled in Leah's school received one last Friday. The NEX food court is having a summer promotion. When a child wears their yellow Subway t-shirt and the accompanying parent buys a combo meal, the child gets a free kids meal. (In July the child receives a toy and a cookie free.) The nice thing is, and I am sure this is geared towards military families who often have a parent deployed, it doesn't matter how many kids. You could have one or five, as long as each child is wearing their t-shirt. It's nice that the school had a few extra and Ms. Sue thought of Aaron. We celebrated the last day of school by going to Subway for lunch today (and so did a few other parents and kids).

It's really overcast and has drizzled on and off today. So we are spending the afternoon playing indoors and watching episodes of
The Magic School Bus. I am going to make pancakes for dinner. We have a party to go to tomorrow at Nimitz Park. (I hope it doesn't rain!) Next week we will take a break and then the last week of June Leah has an origami class at school taught by the Host Nation teacher, Ms. Fukui. For the rest of the summer we are going to keep busy doing all kinds of stuff. Next week we are going to come up with a list of goals and activities we want to do over the summer. If it's fun, I'm sure it will end up on my blog. Have a fun summer!
those are cool t-shirts!! LOVE the back!!
